Hi Jay. Great blog post. I have blogged a bit about Seminar/Webinar marketing, including:

1. A free calendar/timeline/checklist tool (xls) you can use to plan the logistics and your promotion schedule

2. How to write a compelling invitation for your seminar/webinar, including "anatomy of a good invitation email" - writing good invitations is not difficult, you can follow this simple formula that has been proven over and over again to be successful.

3. Appropriate collaboration with sales - if sales is not using your webinars and seminars to engage with their pipeline then it is a huge missed opportunity. Marketing events are better for advancement of existing pipeline than they are for lead generation. You can create OFT emails for sales reps that make it really easy for them to engage one-on-one with their pipeline and get them to attend.

Check it out the series of blog posts here: http://varbeisen.blogspot.com/search/label/Seminar%20Marketing

I have to say i am taking the exam in a few hours and my partner took it and scored high not the expert, but she has been working with me for the past two years. I am though adding my Bachelors in Internet Marketing to my list.

I was wondering about that certification myself. Thanks for clarifying that it's nothing more than what one might cover in an intro-level college course. I think the key though is that AMA's name is attached to it.

Actually, I've created reoccurring tasks within Gmail, been using it for years now in a website that I shared the Gmail calendar out to (yet another great reason to use a gmail account... coordinate group activities dynamically and embed the calendar to a website for all to see).

Surprised you didn't highlight the best reasons (at least for me):

1) Security: Account separation - using a 3rd party email like Google allows you to keep your main ISP account separate.... something that may be associated with a service provider thus giving the potential attacker the first part of the 2 part authentication.

2) Ads are far less annoying than other services like Yahoo! mail. Yes there are still adds, but not in your face and scrolling all over the place distracting you from important things like viewing your email.

3. The embedded calendar I already mentioned.

4. Picasa that also comes with gmail can yet again be embedded into a website for a group to coordinate pictures that can later be placed into a website.

Hi Jay,

I love the diagram and that you are publishing it.

There is a horrible dearth of deeper marketing materials for B2B tech. marketing, which is dangerous because that risks the misapplication of single product and B2C marketing models.

I'm trying to do my bit, with a blog not afraid to tackle the more complex.

Related to content processes, my last two blog posts are on getting information to feed the content process:
http://testdrivenmarketing.com/197/can-subject-matter-experts-destroy-your-company

And what happens when a process isn't followed:
http://testdrivenmarketing.com/144/please-stop-generic-enterprise-marketing

Thanks,
Nick
